A had a Social Studies test coming up, so she was studying for it. As usual, we got bored of the mere text book, so we branched out into other resources to check out the stuff that she was supposed to be learning about.
"Aai, the life span of the Chinese and Japanese is 85-90 yrs, because they eat healthy food, without much fat in it. People in western countries have a life-span of 80-85 yrs even if their food is unhealthy, but because they have a better healthcare system. If you go to a hospital there, they HAVE to treat you. It is the law there. So we have to eat healthy food and take good care of our health if we have to live longer and healthier.
In India, the life span is 70-75 years. because not only do we have lots of fat in our food, but even very poor healthcare."

She has a chapter called 'Some people never die' in Social Studies- it features Abe Lincoln, Martin Luther King, M. Gandhi and Mother Teresa - short biographies.
Her observation- "Aai, all the men here were shot dead, but the lady wasn't."
And-"I think Abraham Lincoln and Mother Teresa were more noble than Martin Luther King and M. Gandhi."
Me:"Why?"
A: "Because they fought for something that was not really affecting them directly. Lincoln was not a slave, and Mother Teresa was not poor and downtrodden. They didn't HAVE to do what they did. Martin Luther King and Gandhi fought against what they thought was being wrong for themselves too!"
**************************************************
"Aai, I know why we get goosebumps when we feel cold."
"Why?"
"So that when we rub on our hands, the friction caused with the raised hair makes us feel warm."!!
I go on to explain how as mammals, the raised hair attempts to thicken the layer and provide insulation- a throwback from the time when our prehistoric ancestors needed this mechanism. She digests that, and then- "But I think my theory was also right, right?"

And what do you think of the new template? Wanted a change!

Nice change - a bit too green for me but know how it feels to have a change.
Awesome A! Love the angle of thinking. :-D
